Getting Started
Set up your bar, configure your menu, and start your first shift.
Welcome to BarBud
BarBud is designed to be the operating system for your bar. Whether you're a high-volume nightclub or a craft cocktail lounge, our tools adapt to your workflow.
1. Initial Setup
When you first log in, you'll be prompted to load a Default Template. We recommend starting with the "Standard Bar" template, which pre-populates your inventory with common spirits, beers, and mixers.
- Go to Settings (Gear Icon in sidebar).
- Click on the Data tab.
- Click Load Template if you skipped the onboarding wizard.
2. Configure Your Menu
Your inventory is your menu. To add custom items:
- Navigate to the Inventory tab (or "All Items").
- Click the large + Add Item button in the sidebar.
- Enter the Name (e.g., "Signature Old Fashioned").
- Select a Category (e.g., "Cocktails").
- Set a Price (e.g., 14.00).
- (Optional) Set a Stock count if you want to track usage.
3. Add Staff
BarBud works best with a team.
- Go to Settings → Staffing.
- Click + Add in the Staff Management section.
- Enter their Name and a 4-digit PIN.
- Adjust their permissions by clicking the Permissions button next to their name.
4. Start a Shift
Before selling, you must open a shift to track cash.
- Click Start Shift in the sidebar or dashboard.
- Select the bartenders working this shift.
- Enter the Starting Cash in the drawer (e.g., $200).
Pro Tip
Use the "Blind Balancing" feature in Settings to hide the expected cash amount from staff when closing a shift. This ensures honest counts.
